Celebrate and raise awareness of Europe’s diverse mix of languages with these top activities
Observed on the 26 September every year, European Day of Languages (EDL) is a day dedicated to celebrating Europe's richness of languages and diverse cultures. Started in 2001, EDL has been a way to encourage individuals to recognise the importance of multilingualism and promote the joy and value of learning languages. With 24 official EU languages, and over 60 regional and minority languages spoken across Europe every day, there is not only a large linguistic diversity but also cultural diversity.
So, whether you're looking for ways you can celebrate in your school or you're an MFL teacher looking for extra activity ideas for your languages lessons, we've picked out a selection of engaging resources created by teachers in the Tes community.
